MA Lighting releases version 1.4 of the grandMA3 software

In its process of continuous improvement, MA Lighting launches its latest software version for MA3 with the aim of offering new functionalities and enriching the user experience.

MA Lighting has launched its new software version 1.4 grandMA3. This release includes improvements to the basic workflow, as well as new features that enrich the overall lighting control experience. In addition, it marks a fundamental step in the evolution of lighting control software and introduces the new concepts of Recipes and Magic.


The Enhanced Selection feature supports simple tree structure selections, not just for devices but for any object. The well-known MAtricks have been expanded from a selection tool to a full three-dimensional manipulation tool for Phase, Velocity, Fade, Delay and various Invert Value and Invert Encoder functions.

MAtricks seamlessly integrates with the new way of creating and tuning Phasers. The streamlined user interface, known as the Phaser Editor, is available directly from the Encoder bar and now houses a step editor. In addition to all the presets, the programmer and Cue-Parts can offer recipes: the most powerful way to pre-organize your program, change ingredients and re-cook individual parts or the entire program!

In addition to a 3D window optimized for even better performance, there are different selection modes to copy any selection directly into the grid view.

Color picker enhancements for additive color mixing allow generic use of color information. GDTF color to combine colors of different types of appliances.

Working on the playback side, Sequence and Sequence Sheet handling has been improved for faster workflows. And improved copy functionality for Cues, Cue-Content and all other Objects useful when editing and adjusting later. This goes along with all the Timecode and Timecode Editor enhancements for a much smoother generation and editing of Timecode Show. New event symbols and easier access to time markers allow for a smarter overview.


Recently implemented protocols, such as RDM, support workflow enhancements for concert tours and fixed installations.

Many more minor enhancements, bug fixes, and feature tweaks to the functionality already in place enrich the programming experience and show MA Lighting's continued commitment to improving user workflow.
